We have a team of over 160 people, including staff, volunteers and trustees, all working to support people living with mental health challenges in Kensington and Chelsea, Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster. 

Our people are at the heart of what we do. They bring invaluable skills and empathy to our programmes, offering vital support and companionship to those in need. Our trustees, with their diverse backgrounds and expertise, provide invaluable guidance and leadership, ensuring our organisation reaches its mission: to empower people to live the life they choose.

Our Board of Trustees is made up of passionate people from various backgrounds who voluntarily give their time and expertise to support our mission. We’re grateful for their diverse perspectives and couldn’t fulfil our goals without them.

Sue Williamson

Chair

Sue has helped secure mergers of Wandsworth, Westminster and Brent- making us one of the biggest London Minds. Through this challenge and that of Covid-19, she has provided leadership and strategic support and direction to an outstanding group of Trustees and a new and vibrant Senior Management Team. This enables our Charity to continue to grow, work well with other Minds with similar objectives and consolidate our offer around Children and Young People and Adult Services.

Jonathan Lawlor

Treasurer

Jonathan has been Treasurer to Brent, Wandsworth, and Westminster Mind since 2017. In his past he was an investment analyst and head of equity research in the City. More recently he worked for the Royal College of General Practitioners as a Senior Strategist.

Rosie Farrer

Vice-Chair

Rosie has 15 years supporting change makers and innovators, plus growing a successful charity from start up to a team of 50 with over 50,000 volunteers. A coach, trainer and consultant she works with leaders and teams to get clear on their purpose, develop happy healthy teams, and get the really big stuff done. She has also worked at Nesta developing innovative approaches to society’s most pressing needs. 

Dr Gail Wingham

Trustee

Dr Gail Wingham is a specialist clinical psychologist currently working in inpatient forensic services in London. She has extensive experience of working clinically with adults, adolescents, and children in the community and in residential hospitals. She has a particular interest in preventative therapeutic interventions for young people.

Darren Woolley

Trustee

Darren’s own mental health journey led him to BWW Mind, where he remains a valued Volunteer heavily involved in our work. He represents the organisation and shares his support with others.

Tom Fitzgerald

Trustee

Tom joined the Board in 2017. He works as a Clinician, based in secondary care in Brent. He has a background interest in healthcare for homeless and underserved populations.

Gavin McCabe

Trustee

Gavin comes from a medical background in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Oxford University. Gavin has been a Mind Service User, trainer, mentor, and volunteer. His combined knowledge and experience brings valuable insight from this perspective to the Board.

James Newman

Trustee

James has worked in both commercial agencies and for clients. He is currently an executive of a global technology and software company, and specialises in Corporate Affairs, Business Strategy, Communications and Marketing.

Nick Johnson

Trustee

Rob brings a wealth of mental health expertise. His journey with Mind began in 1977 when he was supported by their housing project following a mental breakdown. This experience ignited his commitment to mental health advocacy and, for over three decades, he has continued to champion the cause. Rob has since dedicated more than 30 years to serving on the Kensington and Chelsea Board of Trustees, providing invaluable leadership and guidance. His extensive experience, coupled with his personal connection to Mind’s mission, underscores his dedication to improving mental health services and supporting individuals facing similar challenges.

Robert Porter

Trustee

Robert is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in charity law. His expertise spans corporate-commercial law, charity intellectual property, and trustee duties, providing him with a robust foundation in legal matters essential to the charitable sector. Robert’s deep understanding of compliance with Charities Acts ensures that our organisation operates within the legal framework, upholding the highest standards of governance and accountability. His knowledge and dedication are invaluable in supporting the strategic and ethical goals of our charity.

Mark Lockhart

Trustee

Mark is a Chartered Accountant with significant expertise in the charity sector. His extensive experience includes serving as Finance Director and Joint Chief Executive at Westway Trust, where he provided strategic and financial leadership. Mark has also dedicated 25 years as the Honorary Treasurer for a national charity supporting offenders, demonstrating his commitment to social causes and financial stewardship. His financial knowledge and insight make him a valuable asset, bringing robust fiscal oversight and guidance to our organisation.

Caroline Cohen

Clinical Advisor

Caroline Cohen brings a wealth of expertise as a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. With her additional role as a Counselling Supervisor, she supports the growth and development of fellow practitioners. Caroline’s extensive experience working with clients dealing with bereavement and mental health challenges has honed her compassionate, client-centered approach, making her invaluable in supporting the wellbeing of our community.

Meet our Senior Management Team

Our CEO, Simon Thompson, and his Executive Leadership Team are responsible for managing the charity on a daily basis. They prioritise the strategic benefits for service users and the wider community, ensuring maximum positive impact.

Simon Thompson

CEO

Our energetic and results orientated CEO, Simon Thompson, was appointed in Spring 2019, bringing over 25 years’ experience. His broad knowledge base of successful commissioning and innovative health, housing, and social care services, coupled with his roots in clinical practice as a Mental Health Nurse in the NHS, make him a passionate advocate. He enables co-production by putting service users at the centre of our work, and his proven ability to deliver on promises mean that the Charity’s growth is both ambitious and sustainable.

David Evers

Chief Operating Officer

David Evers is a Chartered Manager and Leader with extensive expertise in operations, service delivery, mobilisation, implementation, governance, quality, and compliance. He is passionate about parity of esteem, preventative measures, and early intervention services. Previously Director of Adult Services, David ensures the efficient and effective delivery of our operational plan and strategic objectives. 

Ruvini Ranatunga

Director of Finance & Resources

Ruvini joined us in 2004. With 20 years experience in the sector, she leads the finance team, ensuring income is used beneficially, developing wider financial strategies, assessing investments, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance is maintained across the organisation.

Outside of work, Ruvini is volunteer teacher at the London Buddhist Vihara, an active member of the Sri Lankan cultural ensemble, and enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter who also volunteer to help those in need in Sri Lanka.

Harriet Kyekye

Director of People and Organisational Development

Harriet joined us in November 2018. She’s a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has been a HR professional for over 10 years. Harriet is highly motivated with skills and expertise in Operational HR, Recruitment and Employee Relations, gained in fast moving commercially focused environments. With outstanding interpersonal skills,  Harriet’s the go-to for any work-based problem solving.

Dr David Spalter

Clinical Director

David is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a UKCP accredited Integrative Psychotherapist. He joined Mind in Brent, Wandsworth, and Westminster in 2015. As an expert Chartered Integrative Counselling Psychologist and appointed clinical lead, David delivers clinical oversight, support and training for our Talking Therapies division.

Nada Calovska

Director of Children and Young People Services

Nada joined us in 2016. Her extensive experience includes close collaboration and partnerships with other organisations in the sector, user groups, social services, and local authorities. She’s pioneered several services for vulnerable children and families here at BWW Mind, collaborating with key stakeholders to create a holistic service delivering prevention, early intervention, and education. They cover 43 schools across Westminster, 20 schools in Kensington & Chelsea , multiple Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea youth Hubs, and provide additional support for children and young people with additional needs through a Bi-Borough Educational Psychology Service.
